Home Base

Our new base of operations is smack in the middle of NASCAR country in Raleigh NC. The business has grown to the point where we needed our own space. I try to do as much of my own work as possible, everything from complete engine and transmission rebuilds to simple engineering tasks. The new workshop is complete with vertical mill, lathe, surface grinder, as well as the new engine dynamometer.

Anything more complex than that, and the project gets assigned to the wizards at Les Nimmo Machine. Les and Brett are truly amazing. They can make just about anything and believe me he has this car. Nimmo Machine is a two man shop that ALWAYS has jobs piled high to the ceiling. If it too hard for another shop, or it has been hopelessly botched elsewhere, Nimmo Machine will resurrect it. It helps that Les Nimmo is a vintage racer himself with a Shelby GT350, and Brett Walker is an active autocrosser with another Ford Mustang notchback.

Some of the many projects that Les and Brett have undertaken include:

Custom fit an FIA legal roll cage

Marry a 600D differential and a Punto gearbox to make a 5 speed transaxle

Modify chassis to make new transaxle fit, including a new transmission mount

Make complete shift linkage for new transaxle (photos not avail)

Make new inner and outer CV jointed axles and rear stub axle bearing carriers

Install FIA legal tow hooks (not as easy as it sounds)

In addition to these projects. he also assisted with a multitude of machining tasks involved in fitting a new PBS head to the motor, new video camera mounts, new seat mounts etc etc.
